Bathroom and makeup storage: 3D-printed organisers

A bathroom is organised by separating what stands upright from what lies flat: a compartmentalised brush holder for the former, a low tray for the latter. Our bathroom and dressing table organisers range from €7 to €39, made to order in our Guérande workshop, in around twenty colours.

What clutters a washbasin counter

Take stock of what lies around your washbasin. You will find two families of objects, and only one is really the problem.

The first stands upright on its own or almost: the toothpaste tube, toothbrushes, a serum bottle, a pump cream. It needs an upright container to stop it falling over, not a surface.

The second does not stand upright at all: cotton buds, hair clips, razors, hair ties, samples. This is what spreads out, because we store it in an upright container where it disappears at the bottom. It needs low, wide compartments where you can see everything at a glance.

Most organisers sold in supermarkets only deal with one of the two families. Our two bathroom models deal with both at the same time, and that is their whole point.

One container per action, not one per product

The rule that makes storage last is not "one box per product category", it is "one container per morning action". Brushing your teeth is an action: brushes, toothpaste and floss go together. Removing makeup is another: cotton pads, lotion, tweezers. Shaving is a third.

Grouped by action, the object puts itself back in the right place because the storage follows the hand. Grouped by category, you have to think each time, and that is when the washbasin counter is covered again in three days.

On the washbasin counter: the two bathroom organisers

The Bathroom Organiser 1 (€20) measures 19 × 8 cm. Two upright compartments hold toothbrushes on one side, toothpaste and floss on the other. In front, a low round dish receives what does not stand upright: rings removed before the shower, tweezers, cotton buds. The three volumes rest on a common base with rounded contours, which avoids three independent objects that each slide their own way when you clean the counter.

The base is printed in a second colour. In our photos, white compartments on a sand base, but the combination is freely chosen.

The Bathroom Organiser 2 (€22) is a set of two independent pieces. The large one, 22 × 8.5 cm, is a brush holder with three upright compartments on its oval base. The small one, 13.5 × 5.5 cm, is a low compartmentalised tray, also placed on its base, for cotton buds, razors and hair ties.

This is the model to choose if two of you share the washbasin, or if the small piece must live elsewhere, on a shower shelf or near the mirror. Since the two bases are separate, nothing obliges you to keep them side by side. Each piece is printed in two colours, body and base, which allows you to tell them apart at a glance when you share the bathroom.

Cotton pads and soap

Makeup remover pads pose a precise problem: taken out of their packet, they sag and get dirty; left in the packet, they take up space. The Cotton Disc Holder (€7, 10 cm) is a ribbed column open at the front. The stack stays straight, you grab the top pad with one hand, and the front opening shows the remaining level without having to look inside.

The Porte-savon Soapia (€7, 8 × 11 × 5 cm) requires clarification, because its name is misleading: it is not a washbasin soap dish with drainage grooves, it is a travel case for solid soap. The soap slides into a closed case. It is made for the toiletry bag, the sports bag or the weekend, where a bare soap wets everything else. At home, let the soap dry in the air before putting it back in its case, as with any soap box.

Tissues: rectangular or cube

A printed cardboard tissue box cancels the work of everything else. Two formats exist with us because commercial boxes fall into two formats.

The TISSAIR (€24, 24 × 15 × 9 cm) covers rectangular boxes, the most common. Its low, rounded silhouette allows it to move from the living room to the bathroom without clashing. The Tissue Box Cover (€11, 14 × 14 × 14 cm) covers cubic boxes, with a concentric circle pattern printed on the top face. Measure your box before choosing, that is the only point of vigilance.

On the dressing table: three organisers for three ways of doing things

The three makeup organisers are not distinguished by their size but by the way you access the products.

The Makeup Organiser 1 (€25, 17 × 17 cm) stacks two ribbed levels that offset on top of each other: a compartmentalised tray above, for bottles and brushes standing upright, and an open tray below. It occupies the floor space of a single object while offering two floors. This is the format for small dressing tables and narrow washbasin counters.

The Makeup Organiser 2 (€39, 22 × 16 cm) applies the same principle over three trays, with in addition an independent cylindrical pot for brushes. This is the piece for a real routine, the one that lines up serums, foundation, concealers, and leaves each floor accessible without moving the others.

The Makeup Organiser 3 (€28, 21 × 15 cm) addresses the problem that the other two do not deal with: flat objects. Eyeshadow palettes, powder compacts, pocket mirror, everything that stacks poorly and takes a long time to find. A drawer slides under the base and swallows them, while the compartmentalised top tray keeps upright what must remain visible. This is the model to choose if your makeup is mostly made of flat cases.

Everyday jewellery

The action that remains, when everything else is put away, is removing your jewellery. The Jewellery Display Stand (€10, 23 × 12 cm) is an oblong tray with a straight edge, whose bottom is an undulating relief in hollows and bumps. Rings settle in the hollows instead of rolling towards the edge, chains rest in the grooves without tangling. Biosourced PLA in a bathroom: what works and what does not

This is the question to ask before buying, and the honest answer is in three points.

Ambient humidity is not a problem. PLA is not water-soluble. The steam from a shower, splashes from the washbasin, a wipe with a sponge: our pieces live very well in a normally ventilated bathroom. The colour is in the material and not on the surface, so nothing flakes off.

Prolonged immersion, no. A printed piece is made of layers, and water left to stagnate ends up lodging between them. We wipe rather than leave to soak, and we do not put these organisers in a shower where they would receive a direct jet continuously.

Heat is the real limit. PLA begins to soften around 55 to 60 °C. This excludes the top of a heated towel rail, the edge of a radiator, and contact with a straightening iron or curling iron still hot. Place the iron on its original stand, not in a compartment. For routine maintenance, a damp cloth is enough. The vertical ribs are brushed with a used toothbrush, which is quite logical given the location.

Matching without thinking

The nine pieces share the same twenty or so colours, mostly matt, with a few marbled finishes and a wood finish. The organisers and the soap holder are two-tone: the body and the base are chosen separately, and this choice does not change the price. The TISSAIR, the tissue box cover and the disc holder are single-colour.

Two approaches work. The colour harmony, everything in two neighbouring tones of sand and off-white, which disappears in a light bathroom. Or the colour code, one colour per person when you share the washbasin, which the set of two makes immediate. Printed after your order

None of these pieces is in stock. Your order arrives in our Guérande workshop, the spools of the chosen colours are mounted on an available machine, the piece is printed, then it is deburred and checked before packaging. Allow 5 to 7 days before dispatch.
