Jewellery display stand: storing jewellery without hiding it

A jewellery display stand keeps rings, chains and bracelets in view instead of shutting them away. Ours is a 23 × 12 cm tray with a textured base, €10, in two colours, printed in our Guérande workshop.

A jewellery display stand keeps in view what a box locks away: rings, chains and bracelets remain visible and return to the same place. Ours is a 23 × 12 cm tray with a textured base, where rings settle instead of rolling: €10, two colours of your choice from around twenty, made to order in our Guérande workshop.

A jewellery box conceals, a display stand exhibits

Storing your jewellery means choosing between two gestures. The jewellery box puts them out of sight, in closed compartments or drawers. The display stand leaves them uncovered, placed on an open support, within reach.

The box suits pieces you take out a few times a year. The display stand suits those you wear every week. A piece of jewellery you can see is chosen at a glance in the morning, in front of the mirror. A piece stored at the back of a drawer has to be searched for, and ends up being worn less often.

The display stand has a second function: it gives a fixed place to the evening gesture. Rings removed no longer lie around on the edge of the washbasin or the corner of the bedside table. They return to the same place, stored without being hidden.

What you remove in the evening decides the support

Before choosing a jewellery support, look at what you take off when you come home or go to bed. Three cases arise, and they do not call for the same object.

Rings. They roll. On a smooth surface, they slide towards the edge at the slightest knock on the furniture. They need a base that holds them: hollows rather than a flat tray.

Chains and necklaces. Placed in a heap, they tangle, and the clasp of one catches the link of another. They need length to stretch out, and a texture that separates one chain from its neighbour.

A watch, a wedding ring. Few objects, but daily. A small dish is enough, provided it is exactly where the hand places them.

If all three cases apply to you, an oblong tray with a textured base solves the first two, and a supplementary dish the third, where you remove the watch.

A textured base so nothing rolls

The Jewellery Display Stand: 23 × 12 cm, €10, a rim and base printed in two colours.

The Jewellery Display Stand (€10) is an oblong tray measuring 23 × 12 cm, enclosed by a clean rim. Its base is not flat: it is a wavy texture, a succession of hollows and bumps over the entire surface.

It is this texture that makes it a display stand and not a simple dish. A ring placed on it descends into a hollow and stays there. A chain stretches out in a groove instead of knotting with the next one. In our photos, rings, bracelet and chain sit together, each in its place.

The oblong format matters as much as the base. At 12 cm wide, the tray slips onto a bedside table next to the lamp, or along the mirror of a dressing table, where a square tray would overhang. Its 23 cm length leaves room to lay out a chain.

We have already encountered it in two articles: on the bedside table, next to the dish from the Gyroid set, in catchall tray: which format for the hallway, desk and bedside table, and on the dressing table, with the makeup organisers, in bathroom and makeup storage: 3D-printed organisers.

Two colours, and the base brings out the metal

The Jewellery Display Stand is configured in two colours chosen separately on its page, Colour A and Colour B: the rim and base can contrast. This second colour does not change the price.

For a display stand, this contrast has a function. It is the base that brings out the jewellery, since that is where the eye falls. Under gold or brass, a light base such as Ivory White or Beige emphasises the tone of the metal. Under silver or steel, a dark base such as Matte Black or Deep Blue cuts out the piece.

The rim can follow the furniture: Wood on an oak bedside table, Marble Grey or Marble Sandstone on a dressing table with a stone top, or a bold tone such as Matte Pink or Khaki Green if the display stand needs to be seen from a distance. The choice is made from around twenty colours. The logic of these combinations is detailed in personalised colour 3D vase: compose your own.

In autumn, a maple leaf for rings

The Maple leaf catchall, set of 2: two leaves, 18 × 18 cm and 13 × 13 cm, €12 for the set.

The Maple leaf catchall, set of 2 (€12) is a set of two pieces in the shape of a maple leaf, of different sizes, with veins drawn in relief. The large one measures 18 × 18 × 3.5 cm, the small one 13 × 13 × 2.5 cm.

The division of roles is written on the page: the large leaf receives keys, coins and small accessories, the small one welcomes jewellery and rings. It is a different answer from the display stand. The small leaf does not line up jewellery, it gathers it. It is suitable if you only put down two or three rings in the evening, and the large one goes in the hallway.

It belongs to our autumn collection and comes in the colour range of that collection, including Terracotta, Marble Brick, Khaki Green, Deep Red and Wood, at no extra cost. To pair it with the rest of the season, see autumn decor: terracotta, sand and warm light.

Jewellery removed in passing

Not all jewellery ends up on the bedside table. Some is removed at the washbasin, before the shower or the washing-up, and that is where it gets lost: a ring placed on the edge of a basin can slip towards the plughole.

The Bathroom Organiser 1 (€20, 19 × 8 cm) has anticipated this gesture. In front of its two vertical compartments, a round, low dish receives rings removed before the shower. The ring has its place next to the toothbrushes, where the hand leaves it.

On the bedside table, the watch and wedding ring fit in the round dish from the Gyroid Catchall Tray set (€25 for the three formats), which takes up the space of a cup.

On the dressing table, bottles kept separate

On a dressing table, the display stand shares space with perfumes and makeup. Mixing the two cancels its purpose: a bottle placed in the middle of the rings masks them, and you move three objects to pick up one.

The Perfis (€27) takes care of the bottles. It is a two-tier display shelf, measuring 26 × 12 × 24 cm, photographed on its page with perfumes. It is not a jewellery organiser. It raises bottles on two levels and frees the surface in front of it for the display stand.

For brushes, palettes and skincare bottles, our organisers with compartments, stacked trays or drawers are reviewed in bathroom and makeup storage: 3D-printed organisers.

Glasses are also stored in view

Three Solarwave in different colours, €6 each: wall-mounted glasses holder.

The principle of the display stand applies beyond jewellery. Prescription or sunglasses are the other accessory you look for when leaving. The Solarwave (€6) is a wall-mounted holder inspired by a wave: the pair rests on it and stays at eye level, in the hallway, dressing room or bedroom.

Several Solarwave, in different colours, form a wall composition. We presented it on an office wall in desk storage: 5 design accessories for back to school.

A €10 gift that is used from the first evening

At €10, the Jewellery Display Stand fits within the budget of a small gift, and it is used the very evening it is unwrapped. To choose the colours without knowing the recipient's dressing table, start from their jewellery: a light base if they wear gold, a dark base if they wear silver. If you do not know, a neutral such as Ivory White, Beige or Marble Sandstone does not contradict any furniture.

Two sets, at the prices on the pages. €16: the display stand and a Solarwave, for jewellery and glasses. €22: the display stand and the Maple leaf catchall, set of 2, the small leaf at the bedside, the large one in the hallway. Other ideas by price bracket are gathered in Christmas gift ideas made in France, by budget.

What biosourced PLA requires of a display stand

Our pieces are printed in biosourced PLA, a material of plant origin made notably from corn starch. The colour is in the material and not on the surface: a ring placed and picked up every day does not reveal an undercoat of another shade.

Maintenance consists of two gestures: a damp cloth on the rim, a soft brush between the hollows of the base for dust, jewellery removed.

The only limitation is heat. PLA begins to soften around 55 to 60 °C. On a dressing table, this rules out placing a straightening or curling iron still hot against the display stand. Elsewhere, avoid the edge of a radiator and full sun behind a window in summer. Recycled PETG, more tolerant of heat, will join our workshop in the coming months; the comparison of the two materials is in PLA or PETG: which material for which decorative object.

Printed after your order, in your two colours

None of these pieces wait in stock. Your order arrives at our Guérande workshop, the spools of the chosen colours are mounted on a printer, then the piece is printed, deburred, checked and packed. Allow 5 to 7 days of production before dispatch, then the delivery time. Delivery in France costs €6.90, and it is free from €80 of purchase.

This is what allows you to order a Wood rim on a Matte Black base without depending on what a warehouse has planned in that combination. For a specific date, contact us before ordering.

The pieces in this article can be found in the home accessories and autumn collections. The workshop's operation is recounted in an hour in the RE3DLINE workshop. For a bulk order, our trade page details what we offer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a jewellery display stand and a jewellery box?
A box puts jewellery out of sight, in closed compartments: it suits pieces worn a few times a year. A display stand leaves them visible on an open support: it suits everyday jewellery, chosen at a glance and put back in the same place each evening.
How do you store rings so they don't roll away?
On a textured base rather than a smooth surface. Our Jewellery Display Stand (€10, 23 × 12 cm) has a wavy base with hollows and ridges: rings settle into the hollows instead of rolling towards the edge, and chains lie along the grooves without tangling.
What are the dimensions of the jewellery display stand?
The Jewellery Display Stand measures 23 × 12 cm, in a single size, for €10. For a more compact format, the Maple leaf catchall, set of 2 (€12) brings together a large leaf measuring 18 × 18 × 3.5 cm and a small one measuring 13 × 13 × 2.5 cm, intended for jewellery and rings.
Can you choose the colour of the jewellery display stand?
Yes, twice: the rim and the base are chosen separately from around twenty colours, at no extra cost. A light base, Ivory White or Beige, brings out gold; a dark base, Matte Black or Deep Blue, brings out silver.
Does a 3D-printed jewellery display stand fear heat?
Yes, above 55 to 60 °C, the temperature at which PLA begins to soften. On a dressing table, do not place a straightener or curling iron that is still hot against it, and avoid the edge of a radiator. It cleans with a damp cloth.
How long does it take to receive a jewellery display stand?
Allow 5 to 7 days for production before dispatch, then delivery: each piece is printed to order in our Guérande workshop, in the colours chosen. Delivery in France costs €6.90, free from €80 purchase.
